Past Projects

Buspatch

A rented parking lot in San Fransisco was transformed into a small off-grid community by placing multiple salvaged city busses onsite and using them as public spaces. The entire community was supported by in-house created infrastructure, including a dedicated commercial kitchenbus and a shower trailer.

Solaqua

Rehabilitation of old paper mill buildings, including solar installations and other alternative energy projects. New York State.

Sea7 Hackerspace

Founded as a mutual aid space for artists and members interested in learning the industrial arts. This 14 studio space housed an aluminum foundry, a rudimentary wet lab, and various tooling stations. Once Occupy began the membership elected to retool the space for support actions. The space was certified fire safe by the city of Atlanta, with a particular focus on creating an ad-hoc space that doesn't compromise safety in a warehouse space. Our commercial kitchen space was able to provide free meals to all residents, guests, and up to 200 servings a day to our extended community.

Mutual Aid Spaces

The space maintained a 24/7 open-to-the-public cafe space with a large really really free market, infoshop, and public computer lab. Automobiles were repaired in the shared work dock, and numerous art projects by non-members were produced in our labs.

Mobile Sewing Lab

Sea7 members launched a group of individuals in a box truck converted into a mobile sewing lab to repair clothing and tents for folks living in Occupy encampments.

FreeNet

A door to door campaign giving away almost a thousand PC computers with free internet as part of a digital divide initiative. We received, graded, prepared, and distributed computers; as well as worked with vendors for bundled services such as dial-up-internet. Computers were preconfigured to join local chatrooms that served as a support mechanism and educational resource which leaned heavily into mutual aid.
